Dear Human Resources Director,

 

Attached is my updated resume in regard to any future English Language Arts Teacher positions. Prior to spending the last several years caring for my daughter at home and home based employment, I taught high school English in California to approximately 200 sophomore and junior high school students. Presently I have current certification in Michigan, Arizona, and I also have a Statement of Eligibility to teach in the State of Florida.

 

As of April 30, 2003 I completed a secondary teacher certification program in English and speech communication at NMU. As you will notice by viewing my resume, I have a B.S. and M.A. in English with an emphasis in writing and literature. While working my way through college, I held a variety of jobs such as administrative assistant, computer sales clerk, cashier, executive secretary, office manager, finance assistant, marketing executive, bill collector, human resources assistant, telemarketer, front desk clerk, bookkeeper, executive assistant, security, receptionist, assistant daycare provider, newsletter writer, journalist.

 

My teaching minor is in speech communication, and I have an extensive education and experience in journalism as an undergraduate and most recently writing a university department newsletter for the criminal justice department. And I have taken many college journalism courses. Also I have had many years experience as a staff writer while an undergraduate at Northern Michigan University.

 

In the methods phase of my education courses, my practicum was at the high school level. Afterward, I student taught at Phelps Middle School in Ishpeming, Michigan. I instructed 80 seventh graders reading and writing in language arts, and I assisted with the publication of the yearbook. The school, in particular the seventh grade students, hosted a Holocaust museum for families and members of the community.

 

 In addition to my college education, I also have a 312 hour certification in secretarial occupations and bookkeeping from Northern Michigan University's Jacobetti Center.  I can type 70 wpm.
